Carbon fibre is significantly lighter than steel and up to five times stronger. CSI wants to increase truck payloads by utilising carbon fibre, reducing the need for as many trucks, which in turn reduces demand for fuel and subsequent output of emissions.
Dump trucks are just the beginning. CSI have plans to produce carbon fibre structural components for other parts of the mining industry. Application for this material extends far beyond mining, so it is an exciting future for CSI ahead as they develop this facet of their business.
