ON THE ROAD TO ESTIMATION
Several years ago the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) released the Seventh Edition of their Project Cost Estimating Manual. In it, they detail several different estimating methods and have a guide on which method to choose when it comes to estimating different types of projects.
TMR also list the estimating tools used to “ensure consistently the managing of project cost estimates” – number one of which is Expert Estimation.
To quote directly:
“Some of the main Expert Estimation features include:
- Compatibility & transportability – data is easily imported into Expert Estimation from other programs such as Microsoft Excel.
- Collaboration – multiple users can work on a single project from multiple locations.
- Formulae – it has a range of inbuilt formulae to utilise during estimate creation, and
- Reporting – Expert Estimation contains over 50 customisable report formats which can be exported into Microsoft Excel.”
