FORMULATING FORMULA
You could find the magic formula for your estimates!
The formula field in the cost estimate is great when you need to calculate the quantity of a resource to be used. Put an equation into the formula field and you’ll get a result in the quantity field. You can do simple sums like this without the need of an equal sign.
These formulas are flexible. You can add narration to the formula for more detail. The program will just simply ignore the words and spaces.
You can also use one of the many predefined formulas if you need to do something a bit more complex. Press the control key and space bar to bring up a list of all available formula. This list shows the name of the formula and what it does.
For example, working out the area of a circle. Once selected you’ll get this pop-up to help you with the parsing of the formula. If the pop-up gets in the way of something you want to see, hold the control key and make it transparent.
There’s so much you can do with the formula column once mastered. It can help you automate a lot of your automating processes.
