With the Olympics coming to Brisbane in 2032, Queensland is focusing on what infrastructure will be needed before, and after, this big event.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure Steven Miles is enthusiastic about seizing “the opportunities ahead” and has invited interested parties to consult on Queensland’s State Infrastructure Strategy which sets out a planning and investment framework for the sunshine state.
While Queensland’s economic weakness is low equipment investment (according to the July 2021 Commsec State of the States Report), this could turn around with the implementation of this strategy, and as long as relative population growth and housing continue to drive the economy, supporting infrastructure will be critical in order to keep up.
